Students are invited to submit logo designs for the 2014 FWCD Summer Reading program. The winning logo will be used on the front of the Summer Reading website at http://fwcdreads.wikispaces.com, as a button linking the FWCD website to the Summer Reading site, and on signs posted throughout the campus.
When designing the logo, keep in mind the following points:
It should be a graphical representation of FWCD’s Summer Reading program--an emblem or symbol like the Nike “swoosh” or the FWCD falcon (rather than a full-color picture) that will easily identify the program.
The logo design and colors should portray the ideas of “summer” and “reading.” The template and colors of the Summer Reading website will be changed to match the logo.
The design should easily transfer among different mediums and sizes. For example, it should look equally good as the cover image on the website, on printed signs, and as a button on the portal. If lettering is included on the logo, the word(s) will need to be legible even when the logo is small. (Another option is to create one version with lettering and one version without, but the image should stand on its own even without lettering.)
The logo should adhere to all copyright guidelines. If the design is not original work, select a public domain image that can be reused and modified.
See the AISL 2014 conference site at http://aisl2014.wikispaces.com for an example of how another student logo was incorporated onto a website. (Click on “Student Logos” to see the 2nd and 3rd place logo designs from FWCD students.)
